Mt Gambier Office Opening

On 11 March 2025, the new office of estara in Gray Street was officially opened by Tony Pasin MP, Federal Member for Barker. Now in it’s 23rd year in the Mount, estara’s move into premises almost three times the size of its previous offices signifies the growth of the organisation and the ever-increasing value of its support to people with a disability in the region.

Addressing around 50 supporters and community partners of estara, Mr Pasin stated that ”the strength of a community is measured by the support it provides to its most vulnerable members.” He highlighted that the success of estara in the South East rests entirely in the hands of the dedicated care workers and support staff at estara, who work tirelessly with their clients to ensure that they receive the highest level of care and support to live life to the fullest. By way of acknowledgement, Mr Pasin then asked the estara team to cut the ribbon to officially open the estara Mt Gambier office.

Krys Howard, estara’s Director of In-Home and Community Support in the South East, also addressed guests, outlining the history of the organisation in the Mount. Initially supporting just 11 clients and employing 20 support workers, estara now employs over 170 staff. The organisation is a significant contributor to employment in the region.

Hon Nat Cooke MP, Minister for Human Services was unable to attend but sent a few words to congratulate estara on the new office. The Minister highlighted the importance of support for people with disability and thanked the estara team for their passion and dedication in providing such supports.

Previously known as Paraquad SA, estara is a registered NDIS provider that supports and empowers South Australians living with a disability or spinal cord injury. estara’s vision is to create equal opportunities for inclusion and participation. The Mount Gambier team has introduced a number of initiatives over the last 23 years to support this vision, including the introduction of a retail shop to address the lack of supply of continence and lifestyle items locally and the establishment an independent living site.

The team at estara are delighted with the new office on Gray Street and welcome residents of the Mt Gambier region to drop in and have a look.
